are you ready to groove? {18/25}
partnered with Groover // artists, albums and tracks you should give a spin
Howdy! ⭐️ Bonnie here - welcome to “are you ready to groove?”, a music outlet where I’m sharing the best tracks I’ve been sent to via Groover.
Hyde Out - Caught in a trap
You can truly hear the blend of musical decades this London-based indie rock duo put into their music. There’s a bit of Beach Boys, 60s psychdelic and late 80s/early 90s rock audible.
ElKremso - Only when you Cry
It's giving real classic rock with a mixture of 90s grunge. The lyrics are repetitious and memorable. One is bopping their head to this one.
Christian Rutledge - My Bodega
This song has so much soul and vibes to it, there's an ambience audible in this one. The sound is so well mixed and performed, it's a real pleasure to listen to it. Christian Rutledge has an album coming out called “An Inch Of This New York Mile” coming out May 16th.
Brad Thomas Project - Shake the Dust
Born from the idea having this song as a hommage to performing and playing live, this one has a real live feeling to it. Can picture this be played somewhere people dance.
For 6 months I had that chord prgression in my head but I didn't know what to put with it. But I knew I wanted to write a song about my love for playing live. I also had the words of Jesus in my head where He told the disciples if they didn't listen to you to shake the dust off your feet and go to where they will listen. I had a moment of inspiration when all 3 ideas met. Play your songs because you love to and if they don't shake the dust off your feet and go to the people who will. That is Shake the Dust!

Max Rael - Brighter Future
This one was a pleasant surprise! I haven't heard something like this in a good while, poetry mixed with beats but also a punk vibe to it? Really great work!
Brighter Future is the lead single for my forthcoming debut solo album, The Enemy Is Us. Whilst normally I tend to be drawn towards darker music and lyrics (about myself and the world), sometimes creativity needs to be a reaction to the world around us. Pushing more negativity out into a world that already feels like its drowning, seemed like kicking somebody when they're already down. So while it's natural, and sometimes necessary, to explore difficult realities through creativity, I believe there's also a vital role for artists and dreamers to imagine and articulate possibilities for hope and improvement.
I was really inspired by the John Higgs's book, The Future Starts Here where he says... 'The future hasn't happened yet. The idea that our civilisation is doomed is not established fact. It is a story we tell ourselves.'
And he points out that where in 1977 it was a defiant and shocking statement when The Sex Pistols said, ‘No Future’, today perhaps the true rebellion involves standing up and saying, ‘Yes Future’… A Brighter Future.

The Nigel Purcell Trio - Meet Together Parting Longing
This song has a special vibe to it, the guitars are giving early Beatles and also Beach Boys, the rest of the instrumentals give off The Police - so versatile! For everyone, there's something in this!
The song is about someone who's been in a relationship and about to start another one but being cautious at the same time especially when they have to be apart...it's got a mid 80s indie vibe to it but that's how it turned out. We never deliberately set out to create something, the song always dictates to us what to do.

DUPLEXITY - WAVELESS TIDE
This one has so much energy and motion in it. The guitar riffs are fire! The change of the vocals from Luke in the verses to Savannah's in the chorus is brilliant. This is giving some big arena rock energy!
We’ve been focused on defining our sound and establishing our mark in the music scene. We believe 'Waveless Tide' perfectly showcases our hard work by blending elements from our favorite genres into something truly original.

Alwyn Morrison - Chained
There's just a different feeling to this one, created during a transatlantic flight. Lyrics ringing from honest feelings always a special touch to a song.
"Chained" was the first song I ever recorded. I’ve released other songs before, but this was the first time I actually stepped into a studio and sang into a mic. Honestly, I wasn’t thinking about releasing it at all — I just needed to get it out. If that makes sense? Writing the song wasn’t enough; I had to sing it, say it out loud. I remember feeling super comfortable in that moment, not worried about hitting every note. It was more about expressing myself. My producer was great, and he just captured everything. The vocals we ended up using for the final track are from that very first recording session.
As personal as this song is, I think "Chained" is something a lot of people can relate to. We’ve all felt stuck or bound to certain emotions, experiences, or people at some point. At its heart, it’s about resilience, empathy, and the emotional toll of loving someone through their hardest times. I hope people listening can connect with that feeling of being there for someone, even when it’s tough, and know they’re not alone in that.

John Consalvo - Shake my Soul
This one has such an unique energy to it, maybe it's the guitar picking, the harmonica, the topic of the lyrics, towards the end the stomping makes the song feel like the listener’s in the room.
