are you ready to groove? {20/25}
partnered with Groover // artists, albums and tracks you should give a spin
Howdy! ⭐️ Bonnie here - welcome to “are you ready to groove?”, a music outlet where I’m sharing the best tracks I’ve been sent to via Groover.
Maria Karakusheva - The Wild Iris
Love a good musical blend of capturing the fragility and strength of womanhood. The part where the strings are playing moved me deeply, it was like air was taken and given to my heart.
“The Wild Iris is the pilot single from my upcoming album Forget Me Not, a project that holds a very personal and emotional meaning for me. It explores themes of fragility, resilience, and transformation - especially through the lens of womanhood.” - Maria Karakusheva
Zircon Skyeband - Elvis Lives on the Moon
This band rocks! They’re always so creative, in their song's topics, also the music videos! This song has a familiar sound that's reminding me of Elvis' music and also giving Traveling Wilbury's vibes at times. The harmonica with the guitar riffs.
“Their new single, “Elvis Lives on the Moon, ” beautifully illustrates their dedication to creating music that resonates deeply. With ethereal and eclectic guitar riffs entwined with velvety saxophone melodies, it transports you to a dreamlike voyage, as if you’re gliding through the cosmos in a roadster, sharing starlit moments with someone truly special.” - Zircon Skyeband
The Hill - See You There
There's a real twang in this one, the instruments and the background vocals make this sound real folksy as well as there's a community audible in this one. The lyrics are fitting with the theme of that all together too.
“This is the first single from our 12 song album coming this summer called "Noble Station," which is our 2nd album. The song is about the loyalty of friendship and a bond that will always return.” - Jon from The Hill
The Ram Music - Listen to the Cold
You know I'm a big fan of DIY and especially good DIY - congrats on such good work! The vocals in this one are cool and groovy. Picked with the guitar riffs, this is a real catcher of a song.
“Watching generations disappear, hurts eternally. I wish more than anything, that my kids got to know their grandfather. It's been close to 20 years that he's been gone, but it still feels like yesterday that he was by my side.
Whenever I swim through the waves to get out to the surf, whenever I walk the mountains to gather my thoughts, he surrounds me. His voice, loud and clear in guidance, his hand, steadfast to pick me back up whenI fall. If this song is anything, it's a prayer to him and a reminder to myself that I have huge shoes to fill.” - Mark "The Ram" O'Donnell
Zachary Mason - Madness Gladness
Big fan of the word game going on with the title! this one definitely has a dreamy vibe going on! this almost sounds like the dreampop one would listen to while walking along the seine - a lot of sounds are giving Oracle Sisters!
“Madness Gladness is a track with quite a history for Zachary... Originally recorded in September 2021, the track was then re-recorded (with dubious success) in early 2022 for a now-abandoned album project, and then recorded for a third time in early 2025! The track embraces a rich, reverby sound which entices the listener into a dream which is both romantic and reflective... The lyrics speak of a fictional character who is overcome with the power of love, which brings madness - but also gladness! - into this person’s mind.”
Leo Lovechild - Ain't Nothin' Worse
The comparison to this sounding like a mix of Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson is very correct. This one has a such a calm vibe to it, the cover photo definitely captures the energy of this; a beach, nice weather, infinite time.
“A well-versed New York City singer/songwriter who cut his teeth for over 5 years in venues across the city, Leo Lovechild unveils his upcoming album, Skyscraper Country (August 1); “Ain’t Nothin’ Worse”; a laid-back Willie Nelson-style country tune about a desperate stoner who’s facing the facts that “running out of weed” is one of life’s greatest calamities.”
E.G. Phillips - The Light You Reflect
I love the tempo change!! It's very folksy and moving, the piano especially has just a different tone to it. Almost like it was improvised!
“The piano part was indeed improvised. In general the piano parts for these tracks were improvised. There were some particular figures that the producer wanted to make sure we got for a few songs, but unlike the upright bass and cellos, none of the piano parts were scored -- Omree just had the chords and the demo the Nahuel had recorded to work from. We did go through a couple of iterations on the instrumental section on "The Light You Reflect" to get the right feel.” - E.G. Phillips
Engage - I Wish You Had Told Me
I did a little digging and I found out through their Spotify bio that they called themselves after Picard's command "Engage" - as a Trekkie myself, this is brilliant.
“We really enjoyed making this song. When I wrote the music I was messing around with an open E sound, and a little slide. Rick, our lead guitarist and songwriter as well, was teasing me that I should just play it in standard tuning in E. Of course I chirped back, it's not about the chord, it's about the tone. This song was important to me to finalize for our album. I wanted something to leave my only granddaughter so she could remember me and remember to keep her wonderment of the world around her. We often lose that wonderment with age when adulting becomes heavy and difficult. I think it speaks to all of us to keep that explorer in ourselves, afterall, we are explorers! Make it so!” - Carla from Engage
Paul Givant - Marigold
This one has such a mellow sound to it, the guitars are all harmonising with one each other. There's a specifc sound in the background with all that I can't identify but it uplifts everything a little.
“Acclaimed singer-songwriter Paul Givant ushers in a radiant new era with the release of his latest solo album, Marigold, available now on all platforms. Brimming with heartfelt storytelling and lush instrumentation, Marigold embodies the warmth, renewal, and vibrant color of spring through a timeless ‘70s folk-rock lens while carving new ground in Givant’s evolution as a songwriter.”
Laurence St-Martin - Après minuit
I love the country twang to this otherwise pop song - there's a real fun audible in it and it wants one to step up and dance with friends unitl midnight somewhere in a line-dancing bar or something. A real story told in this one.
“Country singer-songwriter Laurence St-Martin today releases a brand new single, "Après minuit". She points out the lights of the night, where the real fun begins. Come in and leave your hassles at the door, right next to your beautiful cowboy boots, and ignite all the dance floors with Laurence St-Martin & "Après minuit".”
INEZONA - Arboles
I really like the rhythm and grooviness to this one - reminds me of Mexican and Spanish music, as well as soundtracks from French Film Noir movies from the 60s. INEZONA’s vocals are instinctable and unique. This makes the song very dancable.
