Cosmorat - BE LIKE ME
It’s an honour to write another review on the legendary music that Cosmorat is creating. Last year, when I interviewed Taylor Pollock via email on their EP “Evil Adjacent” that as well now has a sister-release full of collaboration of friends covering the EP’s songs. After searching thoroughly the Internet can only be listened to on Bandcamp. Listen to it here.
BE LIKE ME begins with chants and a crowd shouting inaudible words, while you can hear the spelling of B-E L-I-K-E M-E. When I first listened to the song, I was watching the music video (the band was sweet & sent me the preview :), writing this so that bands in the future know this is the way to my heart hehe. The video starts differently to the song you can listen on streaming services now. The monologue is rather in the beginning as in the end, I actually find it at the end way cooler - especially as I have crossfade on usually and so the monologue dives for me into the shouting of the crowd in the beginning.
Continuous harmonies resounding like a choir in the background as well as claps. The drums remind of a sports stadium full of feet on the floor, stepping away their fav team’s win or lost. If we go on that tangent, the video and the lyrics portray an ironic tone of Christian and stalker ad. They do call it a commercial themselves, followed by the words “you are better than any government and any god”.
I am not a bad man
You know who I am
All I need is to believe
Give me strength
To put your hands on me
I sold my soul
So now I can be released
We’ve all had someone we were crazy about. Some people call them God, others your sexy neighbour or simply a haunting ghost of the past loves. In either way, the song and the video showcases once again the genuine talent of Cosmorat. I can’t wait to see what else they have up their sleeves in the future.
