Make It Our Alive by Trousdale
The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte by Sparks
Romantic Piano by Gia Margaret
My Soft Machine by Arlo Parks
ROACH by Miya Folick
If you take a listen, you can hear the unique orchestral and soundscapes of today’s music. Let’s dive into it:
Bad Communicator by TRACE
My absolute favourite song of last week’s new music releases is legend TRACE’s Bad Communicator. We all know I am a big admirer of her music and work (we’ve all read my interview with her last year about Could I Break Your Heart?) and I got suddenly very excited when she announced this song & let’s be honest TRACE is the best songwriter out there talking about being a chronic overthinker :)
since you said hi i’m overwhelmed and / never mind, i didn’t mean it / since i was nine, i overthink things
I Can’t Party by Vulfmon
Well, I’ve scrolled on TikTok one night and stopped at one video that gripped all my attention and I just stared at my little screen, mouth wide open astonished by the calves’ strength of this artist. And the comments shouted together “Dope song, what for a workout!” I think our beige flag is that we all think we can do this to this song and exactly know we never will as our legs are already just hurting by watching. Nice marketing idea here!
i saw a cute fluff ball at the coffee shop / i asked “can i pet it?” / she said “me or the dog?”
Move Me by Donna Missal
The first song I pressed play on as soon as the midnight clocks rang was Donna Missal’s new single off her upcoming album Revel (out June 16th). Together with her twins Flicker and Out of Me, Move Me tease our ears so well for the new album that we dance & daydream all our heart already out. I am in love with everything Missal has up her sleeves for us and always will! (also shout-out to her Discord community which is honestly such a vibe ;)
so in bloom when i reach for you / hands right here inside this room / breathing deep when you take me in / given i’ll stay for my baby
cut it out by Frances Mistry
Have you known that I loooove Frances Mistry’s music since her release of you don’t see me?! I was so happy & felt honored interviewing her about her new single cut it out this past week (coming June 10th on all podcast apps). Now the song is out in the world and I am listening to it on a daily basis on my walks around the city. It’s such a relaxed and smooth indie bedroom pop song to let yourself drift off into daydream.
see you there / i’ll be acting like i never cared / looked at you / god i really wish you asked me to / if i saw you around / i’d never know what to say
Matchmaker by Haley Blais
Another good indie bedroom pop song to daydream a pretty future to is this song. Blais’ songwriting skills I admire for 3 years already (since she gifted me Below the Salt one day before my birthday) and their voice feel like lapse butter on a time machine and slowing every rush down. So excited for what comes next! She’s currently on tour with support from girlpuppy & Katie Tupper (what for a line-up!), so make sure to check it out if you’re living in the States!
what’s in a person / if we’re nothing but dust? / i’m holding my hand to my mouth / but i can’t keep you out of my lungs
This is all for this week! Last week’s new music releases definitely served for everyone something onto their plates. I wish y’all a great week in front of us :) ⭐️🌞⭐️ xo, Bonnie Orbison
